Album Design Approval and Editing
Your album design is complete and in your hands for your review. Now
what? What are the next steps?
If you have just received your email stating that your album design is
complete and you have a link for viewing it online, congrats! The album design
phase is nearing completion. You will need to follow the steps below in
providing your edits or photo swaps to me. Most clients have very few edits and
find my layouts to be strong (as well as photo selection) and the stories full
of emotion while including all the important parts of the day. If you do not
have many edits do not worry, that is great! If you need to add pages to your
album please contact me to discuss pricing (or refer to your contract).
If you have any questions during this process please feel free to
call or email. If you have a balance due it will need to be paid for in full at
the time of your approving the layout and design so that the order can be placed
with the album supplier. Thank
you.
To make edits to the layout:
1. Print out the
web pages from the online link provided.
2. Review the printed pages
and also the PDF document enclosed in the email you received.
3. Use
a pencil with an eraser for easy editing of your own markings.
4.
Put X’s through photos you don’t want and write a new photo number
next to the spot. Make sure it will fit in the “hole” of that spot
though! Very important.
5. If you need a swap a few photos on the
page that do not fit into the "holes" or want to add or subtract photos from the
page please show me your new page layout by drawing a new one under the current
printed page. OR, ask me to re-arrange the page to accommodate your chosen photo
replacements in a way I see fit. Please keep these page re-designs to a MINIMUM.
Thank you.
6. PLEASE DO NOT PACK THE PAGES FULL OF PHOTOS! Any
additional photos you want should be added in the form of PAGE SPREADS and NOT
on the actual pages supplied. If you pack the pages full of photos you lose the
DESIGN and FEEL of the album. I can not stress this enough. A packed album
simply has plain rows of photos all the same sizes. There is no life to it. So
please be conservative when adding images or make notation that you need extra
page(s) in the album when you submit your edits
7. Write BW next to a
photo you want in B&W instead of color, and same applies for COLOR as well.
8. Mail the edits to me at my live/work studio:
10 Exchange Court
Loft 410
Pawtucket, RI 02860
I
prefer to have print outs with your markings next to the spots mailed to me
rather than working off an excel sheet or word document or email. I am VISUAL
and like to see your swaps in relation to the entire page rather than having to
read statements like "replace second left top photo with this new photo". It
should also be easier for you as well this way.
9. You have only ONE
ROUND of edits. Please make sure you address all your swaps and edits and
questions in the ONE submission of your print outs. If you have design questions
after the first round based on any edits you made we will discuss, but no other
changes will be allowed once the layout is approved.
10. Final
note: If any photos need color correction (they shouldn’t though) or need
straightening that will be done AFTER the layout is approved. Also, the export
tool in the software for low resolution proofing will show some items slightly
not aligned by a pixel or two, or not touching the edges of the album if they
should be. Do not worry, this won’t happen on the final export into
PhotoShop where I make the final edits before submitting to my photo
lab.
Enjoy reliving the day again!
Your album is
going to be fantastic. A little work and effort on our both parts to get the
edits done in a timely manner will mean the final product will be in your hands
sooner than later :)
